Accidental Leaders Club

An accidental or reluctant leader could be described as;

  • Unintentionally finding yourself in a leadership role

  • Taking a leadership role because no one else would (or you were afraid of who might)

  • Not feeling like 'leadership material' because you can't see others who look or behave like you in existing roles

  • Doubting you'd be able to make a difference

  • Passing over opportunities to progress

I believe that accidental leadership is the biggest unseen challenge in the modern workplace. People thrust or stumbling into leadership roles without adequate training and support can frequently be overcome with self-doubt, imposter syndrome and uncertainty. With a lack of safety to share how you really feel, it becomes buried as a guilty secret.

I have an idea I'm testing out...

  • What if this secret source of worry instead became a source of connection between others who feel it too?

  • What if there was a place where accidental or reluctant leaders could support one another and share their experiences in a fun, empowering way?

  • What if we explored different ways for us to confidently inhabit our leadership roles?

I'm playing with the idea of creating a free in-person community of accidental leaders to build meaningful connections and learn to thrive together. If this sounds like something you'd be curious about, pop your email below. Once I hit a good number I'll be in touch to make it a reality.
